Finding 1: Memory corruption when long username/password is used Credit: Martin Rakhmanov and Ernesto Cullen of Trustwave dotConnect for Oracle is a .NET library used to work with Oracle Databases. One of the modes of operation is based on OCI which are native libraries from Oracle. In this mode dotConnect makes native library calls and works with unmanaged memory. There is a flaw which allows to corrupt unmanaged memory via passing an overly long username or password for Oracle database connection. This issue potentially can lead to code execution or denial of service. Remediation Steps: Apply the dotConnect for Oracle 8.5.602 update or the latest stable version.
